Hey folks..
I'm in an interesting situation where I'm working on a remote PLC. I have access to the PLC, but not the VFDs on the PLC's local network. It is not really an issue that I can't talk directly to the VFDs from inside RSLogix Studio, since they are already setup and good to go as long as the PLC knows how to talk with them.
Rockwell's PowerFlex 525 is a popular VFD given the fact that it has a built-in Ethernet/IP port. And in today's article I'll show you how to set the 525's Ethernet Address using its front Keypad and Display. Import of adapter EDS files; Integrated scanner (master) protocol stack as a CODESYS library, programmed in IEC 61131-3 code; Alternatively: a driver for Hilscher EC1 or netX-based Ethernet connection with EtherNet/IP stack as well as a runtime system component for direct access to the Ethernet/IP master card. So, when I pull the code down with an 'upload', I get errors that the drives are not in my local EDS database. The issue is, I can't add them to my database, because allen bradley doesn't have versions new enough on their site as what the customer has in use currently.
My best path forward seems to be getting connected up to the drives and pulling down my own EDS, but I'm really frustrated that I can't find the latest ones online in the proper locations.
Anyone run into this?
Thanks.
